Clark Thompson

Clark has over twenty years’ experience in financial services technology and operations strategy, management and consulting in a variety of senior roles. His area of expertise is translating business strategy into clearly defined IT, operations and financial objectives. For the past three years his focus has been on blockchain and distributed ledger technology.

At R3, the 70+member for-profit industry consortium for distributed ledger technology research and collaboration, he is currently the senior business architect. As such, Clark is responsible for formulating, designing, implementing and delivering successful distributed ledger projects and roadmaps to generate commercial outcomes and services for members.

Prior to R3, Clark was a director at Credit Suisse, where he served in a variety of senior IT strategy roles including co-leading blockchain technology with a focus on private banking and wealth management. In addition to heading IT strategy for private banking in the Americas, he developed the business architecture practice for the investment bank, and led risk and finance IT strategy.

Over his career, Mr. Thompson has played senior operational, IT and strategy roles at Deloitte Consulting, Delaware Investments (now part of Maquarie Group), Deutsche Bank, and Morgan Stanley. He began his career as a financial technologiy journalist at Waters, now part of Incisive Media.

He has an MALD in international finance and strategy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and a BA Magna Cum Laude in Political Science from Tufts University.
